EATING OUT

There are two traditional pubs – The Five Bells and The Horse & Groom - both do food. For a good cooked breakfast the local café is only a 7 minute walk. Close by is the fish and chip shop; check the opening times which can vary.

Southwold is full of good eating places – a complete up to date list of eateries in Southwold is to be found in the cottage. But two of note are The Swan which does excellent bar meals or a superb set 2 course lunch including either wine or beer for £15.95; and the Blue Lighthouse a very good bistro style eatery.

Beccles (15 minutes) – also has some good eating places – The Swan is of particular note.

The Queens Head at Blyford advertises that it “provides good food not fast food”. It does superb pies which you could not get anymore meat in!

The Bell Inn in Walberswick is very good – but you can’t book so need to arrive either early or late – particularly on a Sunday. It is lovely to walk from Southwold and take the ‘foot passenger only’ ferry across the Blyth to reach Walberswick.

Wherever you go to eat make sure you try the beer of the local brewer, Adnams.
